Old students of Methodist Girl’s High school Yaba, has held its year 2020 Reunion day with a lecture to inspire and strengthen participants from within and outside Nigeria.
The lecture with the theme:At a time like this” was targeted at encouraging sisters on how to stem the tide of a challengging year which urshered in the corona virus pandemic.
Delivering his lecture,the guest speaker, Professor Andrew Zamani highlighted solutions to combat the challenges posed by covid-19, EndSARS Protest among others as
Sound intellect for innovation, Discernment to understand the times, Courage to stand for what is right and to deliver justice amongst other points.
Worthy of note is that the 2020 Reunion was successful despite the different time zones that participants(sisters only) tuned in from their home base Nigeria (different states), the United Kingdom (UK), Ireland and the United States of America (USA).
In her remarks, Joy Elumelu who is the Current Publicity Secretary of the union said, the climax was having sisters as Panelists, MC and Moderator impact the lives of all who participated from different parts of the world.
According to her, the participants were enlightened on financial, spiritual entrepreneur and mental health management, adding that, they have gained immensely and very strongly on several logical steps to follow, in order to conquer in a challenging time.
She however pointed out that “our motto MUST GAIN HIGH STANDARDS is not just a motto, but a culture ingrained in us that has shaped our lives”. I
The event which started at 4pm and ended at 7.30pm drew 240 sister participants around the world.
The old students also announced a building project to support the school to continue its mandate of raising women who would contribute positively to the society globally.
The essence of the project according to the Exco is also geared towards Fostering an inclusive sisterhood among old girls
