As I walked into the premises of Methodist Girls’ High School, Yaba, holding tightly to my mother for my registration, I had no idea what lay ahead for me. I had gained admission into Methodist Girls’ High School (MGHS) Yaba in 1993.
As I grew older, I began to fathom how my parents’ choice of school for my secondary education, inevitably shaped my life. A pacesetter in the education of the girl child, I was trained to embrace love and fairness in all I do, eschew evil as they admonished us to have the fear of God.
My wonderful memories wouldn’t be complete without giving an insight into the kind of teachers who taught me. While some were quite strict, others were fairly approachable. But one thing was fundamental to them all, service! They relentlessly gave themselves to tutoring and moulding us and their fervent push impacted me positively.
The extra-curricular activities in school were a huge part of my growing up. I was a member of the Literary & Debating Club and well, it’s no surprise now, how I went on to love speaking in the public space as well as teaching. These have led me into finding my passion and the career path as a Lecturer, today. I doff my cap.
